Everyone involved in the work undertaken by the Irish Wolfhound Rescue Trust will be delighted to know that we have received the wonderful sum of £2250 from the Irish Wolfhound Charitable TrustThis sum is the entire proceeds of the Grand Christmas Raffle organised by the Charitable Trust to raise funds exclusively for our benefit.

Fundraising like this and on this scale makes a real difference to our ability to support and rehabilitate hounds who may not be in the best of health when they need rehoming. The Rescue Trust would like to place on record our thanks to the team who set up and ran the raffle, and to everyone who so generously supported it. Thank you, one and all!

Welcome . . .
. . . to the UK Irish Wolfhound Rescue Trust website. We aim to provide loving homes for Wolfhounds whose owners can no longer keep them. The organisation is based in mainland UK and offers its service to hounds and owners resident in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The IWRT was established over 50 years ago to look after all Wolfhounds needing rescue and re-homing throughout the UK. Its work involves organising checking of potential new homes, assessing incoming dogs, ensuring best home matches for the dogs' needs and providing fostering and veterinary care where necessary.

We are always happy to hear from potential rescue owners. We do not operate a ‘first come, first served’ system but try to ensure that each hound is placed in a home most suitable to his or her individual circumstances.
If you would like to apply to the Trust to adopt
an Irish Wolfhound, full details are here.

All hounds offered to the Trust are assessed as thoroughly as possible so we can give their new owners the information needed to help the hound settle in his or her new home. It is not usually necessary to place hounds in kennels - we try, wherever possible, to arrange for them to go directly from their previous home to their new home.

If you have an Irish Wolfhound that you are no longer able to keep, please contact the secretary who will make the necessary arrangements. All our homes are carefully vetted, and we try our best to ensure a good match between hound and new owner.
